The India-flagged cargo vessel MSV Faize Noore Oliya sank in the Red Sea off Yemen’s Hodeidah coast on Tuesday, August 4, after being struck by what officials described as a boat laden with explosives. Yemen’s Saudi-backed transportation ministry attributed the attack to Houthi militants, who have not claimed responsibility. All 14 crew members — 13 Indian nationals and one Yemeni citizen — were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard and brought safely to the Port of Mokha.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people stranded on rocks at the Coquille River South Jetty in Bandon, Oregon, on Monday, August 3, after their 14-foot pleasure craft began taking on water. Bandon Fire Department personnel pulled both people from the vessel and staged them on the rocks, where an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station North Bend hoisted them to safety and transferred them to emergency medical services. No fatalities were reported.
