Wisconsin Woman Killed in Propeller Accident at Gordy’s Marine on Lake Geneva
A 57-year-old Wisconsin woman died Thursday evening, April 16, 2026, after falling off a motorized watercraft during a docking maneuver at Gordy’s Marine, 320 Lake Street in Fontana, Wisconsin, and becoming entangled in the vessel’s propeller. Fontana police and fire personnel responded around 8 p.m. and freed her from the propeller, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is leading the investigation and has said alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Dry-Docked Sailboat Destroyed by Fire at Riverside Marina in Fort Pierce
St. Lucie County Fire District crews extinguished a fire aboard a 30-foot dry-docked sailboat at Riverside Marina (Heritage Boat Yard) in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Firefighters arrived at the 2350 N. Old Dixie Highway marina around 11:40 a.m. to find the vessel fully engulfed in flames. Crews contained the blaze to the single sailboat, preventing damage to surrounding vessels and structures. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

16 Foreign Nationals, Including One American, Rescued from Adrift Sailboat Off Panama
Panama’s National Aeronaval Service (SENAN) rescued 16 foreigners — including one American citizen — from a disabled sailboat that became adrift after mechanical failure while traveling from Colombia to Panama. The sailboat was located Thursday, April 17, 2026, approximately 40 nautical miles from the community of Ustupu in the Guna Yala indigenous region and was towed roughly 25 miles to a safe port. Those aboard also included nationals of Argentina, Colombia, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark. No injuries were reported.
