Fiji Princess Cruise Ship Runs Aground Near Monuriki Island
The MV Fiji Princess, a 182-foot cruise vessel operated by Blue Lagoon Cruises, ran aground on a reef near Monuriki Island in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands on April 4, 2026. All 30 passengers and approximately 30 crew members were safely evacuated with no reported injuries. The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji reported serious damage to the vessel’s stern, steering equipment, and hull, with engine failure and water ingress. The grounding reportedly occurred after a severe squall caused the ship’s anchor to drag toward the reef. Salvage crews are working to remove fuel and recover the vessel as environmental concerns mount.
