Man Killed After Personal Watercraft Strikes Private Dock on Lake Goodwin, Washington
A man riding a personal watercraft died Tuesday morning, August 25, after colliding with a private dock on Lake Goodwin in unincorporated Snohomish County, Washington. Snohomish County sheriff's deputies and Marysville firefighters responded around 8 a.m. after nearby residents heard the crash and pulled the man from the water. He was the sole occupant of the watercraft, sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite CPR efforts. The sheriff's office Marine Services Unit is leading the investigation.

Tugboat SL Sual 1 Capsizes and Sinks During Salvage Tow Off Zambales, Philippines
The 31.5-meter tugboat SL Sual 1 rolled over and sank in less than two minutes on the morning of August 24 as a second tug attempted to pull it off the beach near the Bucao River in Zambales, Philippines. The tug had been deliberately grounded on August 14 after springing an uncontrollable engine room leak while anchored off Botolan. All 10 crew aboard were forced to jump overboard as the vessel listed to starboard and went down; no injuries were reported. Authorities say roughly 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel were aboard, and the Philippine Coast Guard has staged pollution response equipment nearby. Initial reports suggest the tug struck an underwater object, possibly a shipwreck, causing the original hull breach.

Saudi Tanker Amzan Struck by Projectile and Set Ablaze Off Yanbu in the Red Sea
A tanker was struck by a projectile roughly 63 nautical miles west of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia's principal Red Sea oil port, early Monday, August 24, sparking a fire on the vessel's main deck. Saudi shipping company Bahri confirmed the vessel involved was its tanker Amzan and said all crew members were safe. The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported no environmental damage and described the weapon only as an "unknown projectile," though Yemen's Houthi movement claimed responsibility, saying the ship was targeted with a ballistic missile. The strike follows the group's announced blockade of Saudi shipping in July.

Fishing Vessel Resolution Runs Aground at Point Reyes National Seashore, California
In the early hours of August 21, the U.S. Coast Guard was notified of a fishing vessel foundering off Point Reyes, California.
