Man Killed and Woman Critically Injured in Boat Collision Near Garrett Island, Lake Buchanan, Texas

Texas Game Wardens were notified at roughly 9:45 p.m. on September 7 of a vessel collision near Garrett Island on Lake Buchanan in the Texas Hill Country. Dillard Drake, 40, of East Lake was killed in the crash, and a woman aboard the same vessel suffered critical injuries and was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. As of the following morning her condition had improved and she was expected to survive; the collision remains under investigation.

Nine-Year-Old Girl Airlifted After Tube Strikes Docked Vessel at Cedar Creek, Nebraska

A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured shortly after 1:30 p.m. on September 7 in the 2000 block of Sunset Drive at Cedar Creek, south of the Omaha metro near Louisville, Nebraska. A preliminary investigation indicates the girl was being towed on an inflatable tube behind a boat when the tube collided with a docked vessel. She was life-flighted for treatment of her injuries.

Four Rescued After Vessel Capsizes Near the Mouth of the Colorado River Off the Texas Coast

Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a mayday call on VHF Channel 16 at about 8:30 a.m. on September 7 from a vessel roughly two nautical miles offshore near the mouth of the Colorado River. A helicopter from Air Station Corpus Christi and a response boat from Station Port O'Connor were launched, but a nearby Good Samaritan vessel responding to the urgent marine broadcast pulled all four adults from the water first. All four were wearing life jackets, and Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens assisted in bringing them ashore.

Boat Strikes Shoreline on the Gasconade River Near the Highway 42 Bridge, Maries County, Missouri

The Maries County Sheriff's Office and other agencies responded to a boating accident on the Gasconade River near the Highway 42 bridge, between the 177 and 178 mile markers, shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 5. Responders found the boat on the shoreline with all occupants already out of the vessel; injuries were limited to minor bumps and bruises. The sheriff's office has said it believes a mechanical malfunction of the boat's steering caused the crash.

Outrigger Boat MB Geri Ann Swamped and Capsizes Off Dalupiri Island, Calayan, Cagayan, Philippines

The outrigger passenger boat MB Geri Ann capsized off Dalupiri Island in Magsidel, Calayan town, Cagayan, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5, after strong waves swamped the vessel. The boat had departed the port of Claveria that morning bound for Calayan. Crew members radioed the Philippine Coast Guard and disaster responders, and the Calayan Coast Guard station rescued all aboard — reported as seven crew and eleven passengers — with the wreck towed by the vessel MB Claricel.
