One Killed and Four Injured in Two-Boat Collision on the Ross Barnett Reservoir, Mississippi
One person was killed and four others were injured when two boats collided on the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Rankin County, Mississippi, at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, September 20. The wreck happened north of Tommy's Trading Post, near Goshen Springs, and at least one of the injured was in critical condition. Reservoir Police, the Rankin County Emergency Operations Center, Lake Harbor Fire Department, Pafford Ambulance and UMMC AirCare responded. Two men, ages 21 and 22, were later booked into the Rankin County Jail on boating-under-the-influence charges.

Personal Watercraft Rider Killed in Boat Collision Near Pirates Den Resort on the Colorado River, Arizona
A 46-year-old man riding a personal watercraft died after being struck by a boat on the Colorado River near Parker, Arizona, on Thursday, September 17. Deputies from the La Paz County Sheriff's Office responded to the Pirates Den Resort dock area, where first responders treated the rider before he was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. He was identified as Manuel Martinez. The 55-year-old boat operator was taken into custody, and investigators believe alcohol was a factor. The investigation remains open.

Panama-Flagged Bulk Carrier First Margaux Strikes Chinese Fishing Vessel in the Singapore Strait
The 229-meter Panama-flagged bulk carrier First Margaux struck the Chinese fishing vessel Luqing Yuanyu 108 in the Singapore Strait on September 20. Both vessels had departed anchorage near Singapore that morning and entered the same westbound lane of the traffic separation scheme; the faster bulker overtook the fishing vessel and made contact with her starboard quarter, heeling the smaller boat hard to port and sending water over her main deck. No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the cause.

Carnival Panorama Reverses Course After Passenger Goes Overboard Off Mexico
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that a male passenger went overboard from the cruise ship Carnival Panorama on September 19 as the vessel sailed from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, toward its homeport of Long Beach, California. The ship reversed course and conducted an onboard search, with guests asked to return to their staterooms while the crew accounted for everyone aboard. Onboard CCTV footage confirmed the passenger had gone overboard, and both the U.S. and Mexican coast guards were notified.
