Two Dead After Boat Strikes Floating Object on the Mississippi River Near Dubuque, Iowa
Around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, a boat struck a floating object in the Mississippi River near Massey Marina in Dubuque, Iowa, throwing all three occupants from the vessel. Two men died and a third person was rescued by a nearby boat. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating.

Fishing Boat Capsizes Off Jeju, South Korea; Captain and Crewman Missing
At about 3:04 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, a 29-ton longline fishing vessel capsized roughly 65 kilometers northwest of Chagwido Island off Jeju. The boat had reported eight crew but carried eleven. Nearby fishing boats rescued nine foreign crew members before official responders arrived, while the South Korean captain and one Indonesian crewman remain missing. The Jeju Regional Coast Guard has deployed nine patrol ships, two helicopters and an aircraft in the search.
