Boat Tangled in Lobster Traps Catches Fire and Strikes Rocks Off Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, a vessel off Singing Beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea became tangled in lobster traps, spun out of control, struck rocks and caught fire. Two of the three people aboard were pulled from the water, and one of the rescued men later died; one person remains missing. The Coast Guard, state police, fire departments and harbormasters from several North Shore communities responded.

Two Seriously Injured When Boat Strikes Pier and Sinks at Weaver's Cove in Somerset, Massachusetts
A 14-foot boat struck a pier at Weaver's Cove in Somerset this weekend and began sinking with two people in the water. Somerset marine units, assisted by Fall River, rescued both occupants and brought them to Bicentennial Park in Fall River. Both victims suffered serious injuries and were taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
