Missing Pontoon Boater Found Dead in Mississippi River Near Lock and Dam 5

Brian Daley, 60, of Utica, Minnesota, was found dead on Friday, October 2, 2026, after a search that began the previous day on the Mississippi River about 1.5 miles south of Lock and Dam 5. His pontoon boat had been found unattended in the main channel near Merrick State Park, and searchers moved from surface operations to an underwater search before locating his body. The Winona County and Buffalo County Sheriff's Offices handled the response.
