Fishing Vessel High Roller III Takes On Water and Drifts Onto Rocks in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland
On October 17, 2026, the 15-meter fishing vessel High Roller III broke down and began taking on water it could not control in Trinity Bay, off Bay de Verde, Newfoundland. The Canadian Coast Guard cutter John Cabot responded with dewatering pumps and secured a towline toward Harbour Grace, but problems during the tow forced the crew to drop the line and transfer to the cutter. The unmanned vessel then drifted onto rocks outside Bay de Verde; no injuries were reported, and salvage may follow if conditions allow.
