On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Bruce R. Kornegay, 70, of Woodstock, Alabama, was thrown from the 18-foot Bass Tracker he was operating on Lake Demopolis near the Tombigbee River in Marengo County shortly after 2:15 p.m. The unoccupied boat then struck him in the water, and he later died at Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis. Investigators with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol Division noted he was not wearing a life jacket or using the engine emergency cut-off switch.

Boater Found Dead on Whidbey Island After Falling From Dinghy Near Point Wilson, Washington

A man last seen aboard a 12-foot dinghy near Point Wilson, Washington, on the evening of Thursday, May 21, 2026, was reported missing after his unmanned boat was found adrift in Puget Sound.
