One Killed, Five Injured in Two-Boat Collision on West Lake Okoboji, Iowa

Two boats collided near Pillsbury Point on West Lake Okoboji in northwest Iowa around 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. One person on one of the vessels was killed and five others were injured, three seriously; the injured were taken to Lakes Regional Hospital and Spencer Hospital. Authorities said all occupants were wearing life jackets, alcohol has been ruled out as a factor, and the Iowa DNR investigation is ongoing.

Three Hospitalized After Boat Capsizes in Lake Michigan Off Chicago's Kenwood Neighborhood

A boat carrying seven people began sinking about 20 yards from shore in Lake Michigan near the 4400 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood on the evening of Monday, August 3. The Chicago Fire Department's scuba team responded around 7 p.m. and all seven people were pulled from the water. Three were taken to a nearby hospital in good condition, while the remaining four declined medical treatment.

Coast Guard Searching for Missing Boater Last Seen in Marathon, Florida Keys

The U.S. Coast Guard is asking for the public's help in locating Dustin Southwick, a boater who went missing in the Florida Keys over the weekend. Southwick was first seen around 8 a.m. Saturday on a rental boat in Marathon and was later spotted aboard the vessel near the 33rd Street boat ramp around noon. Coast Guard crews from Marathon are continuing search efforts.
