Two Crew Rescued After Fishing Vessel Comillas Tercero Burns and Sinks Off Castro Urdiales, Spain
The Spanish fishing vessel Comillas Tercero caught fire on the morning of August 26, 2026, roughly seven miles northeast of Punta Pescador off the eastern coast of Cantabria in the Bay of Biscay. Longliner Corvo Sinks After Overnight Fire Near Estaca de Bares, Galicia
Spanish maritime rescue authorities received an alert at about 10:04 p.m. on August 24, 2026, reporting a fire aboard the longliner Corvo approximately eight miles northeast of Estaca de Bares on the Galician coast. Russian Fishing Vessel Alpha-Crux 00 Capsizes at Berth in the Port of Montevideo
The 50-metre Russian-flagged fishing vessel Alpha-Crux 00 listed heavily and rolled onto its port side at Dock 7 in the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay, at about 7:30 p.m. on August 25, 2026, leaving the ship partially submerged alongside the pier. The entire crew was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
